Trenčín Castle was erected in the 11th century. During the 13th and 14th century more improvements and additions were made. In 1790, fire destroyed the castle. The reconstruction began in earnest in 1956. Today, Trenčín Castle is home to a museum of Medieval weaponry and other artifacts.
